Domestic airlines applaud FAAN MD for improved airport maintenance

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), led by Managing Director Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has been recognized for its efforts to bring positive changes to federal airports. During a recent meeting held at the new terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Allen Onyema, Vice President of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and CEO of Air Peace, commended FAAN and expressed confidence in its leadership.

The meeting, attended by executives from 20 airlines, was organized by Mrs. Kuku to discuss airport development plans and gather feedback from operators to enhance service quality for passengers. Mrs. Kuku began the meeting with a detailed presentation on her vision for Nigeria’s airports, focusing on key areas such as safety, security, cultural transformation, digital innovation, service excellence, and revenue growth. She outlined her goal to position FAAN as a leading airport management company in sub-Saharan Africa within the next decade, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with AON.

In response, Onyema praised FAAN’s new approach and the commitment of Mrs. Kuku and Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, to improving aviation infrastructure. He acknowledged their dedication and sense of responsibility, stating, “When government does what is wrong, you can say it, but what is happening in FAAN is commendable. The desire to do good is very transparent. You can see it. So, why won’t we have confidence in the system? This is no more fighting time; this is time for collaboration.”

FAAN’s directors, including Abiola Muniru Adejare (Director of Engineering Services), Captain Abdullahi Mahmood (Director of Airport Operations), Mr. Henry Agbebire (Director of Special Duties), and ACP Afegbai Igbafe (Rtd) (Director of Aviation Security Services), shared their efforts to improve service quality. The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, was also present.
