Ebonyi Marathon organises one-day training programme for technical crew

Ahead of the upcoming 1st Ebonyi Half International Marathon, the State Ministry of Youth Development, in collaboration with Fairplay International, organized a one-day intensive training for its technical crew and officials in Abakaliki, the state capital.

Participants included members from the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, various youth groups, and students. The training, approved by the state government, aimed to familiarize participants with the latest trends in marathon racing.

The training was overseen by Prince Richard Ugo-Idike, the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in Ebonyi State. Ugo-Idike commended Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his support of youth and sports initiatives and for granting Fairplay International permission to organize the marathon, the first of its kind in the South East.

In his address, the Commissioner encouraged participants to make the most of this opportunity to enhance their sporting skills.

Mr. Jacob Onu, head of Fairplay International, expressed gratitude to the governor for his support in hosting the marathon. He urged participants to pay close attention during the training, emphasizing that officials would not tolerate any misconduct.

Prince Henry Amike, the technical director, assured that all necessary arrangements for the event, including medical, road safety, welfare, and security, have been made. He announced that over 5,000 athletes from Nigeria and 50 from abroad are expected to participate and encouraged those who have not yet registered to do so.
