Interswitch, LASG, host stakeholders’ forum on health

Following the recent signing ceremony to launch the Lagos State Health Information Platform (Lagos SHIP), Interswitch Group and the Lagos State Government have organized a stakeholders’ engagement forum to further progress the initiative aimed at providing comprehensive healthcare access for Lagos State residents.

Lagos SHIP is a digital platform designed to empower residents by enabling them to book appointments, make payments, access medical records, and purchase medications seamlessly. By leveraging Interswitch’s advanced infrastructure, the platform aims to bridge the gap between patients and healthcare providers, creating a more efficient and user-friendly healthcare experience.

At the forum, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akinola Abayomi, highlighted the transformative potential of Lagos SHIP. He emphasized how the platform could enhance healthcare delivery, improve patient outcomes, and optimize resource allocation through data-driven insights. Professor Abayomi underscored the importance of collaboration in realizing these objectives, noting that Lagos SHIP will streamline operations, reduce administrative burdens, and facilitate more informed decision-making within the healthcare system.

Dr. Wallace Ogufere, Managing Director of Interswitch, reiterated the company’s commitment to improving health outcomes in Lagos State through its healthcare subsidiary, Interswitch e’Clat. He described Lagos SHIP as a potential model for healthcare systems across Nigeria and Africa, leveraging cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) to revolutionize healthcare delivery.

The stakeholders’ engagement forum also served as a platform to raise awareness about Lagos SHIP, gather feedback, and address concerns related to data security and privacy. Both the Lagos State Government and Interswitch are confident that the platform will significantly enhance the well-being of Lagos residents by providing better access to healthcare services.
